B.S. Visual Communication in Technology

Bowling Green State University

Hi! I'm Abby

My name is Abby Loughlin, and I am a Boston-born designer and photographer. I discovered my love for photography and many other hands-on crafts at a young age. I was able to develop my design skills at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I graduated with a B.S. degree in Visual Communication Technology (VCT) specializing in Photography and Print Design. VCT is a cross-platform major where students learn to use print, photography, video, and interactive multimedia as problem-solving tools in a variety of work settings.

Currently, I work as a Lead Graphic Designer of a team that specializes in Games, Plush, Art Kits, and Tech Accessories for RMS International. I work closely with my team of four designers, as well as the sales account managers and quality control team. My daily responsibilities include but are not limited to developing new product from design to production, manage multiple projects, and create presentations and attend meetings. On any given day, I meet with management, sales team, purchasing team, or customers. I design the packaging, write game instructions, and generate detailed specifications of the product for production. In addition to the brands that I manage, I also work with our License team to follow guidelines set by NASA, Little Tikes, and candy (Ring Pop, PEZ, Smarties, etc). Many of the products my firm produces are sold by Five Below, Menards, and “dollar store” chains. In earlier jobs, I produced marketing literature for a Physical Therapy firm and for Real Estate agents through a local print shop.

In my free time, you can find me crafting, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors. I’m a big fan of traveling as much as possible to experience the beautiful sights of the world and learn about new cultures. Some of my favorite destinations have been Iceland, Costa Rica and Eastern Europe. When I’m really into my photography, you’ll find me crouching or laying on the ground looking for a unique angle.
